• Can you work within a network of doctors of hospitals?
• Do you want the freedom to choose your own doctor?
• Would you like your preventive care (checkups) covered?

• Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) – Usually the least expensive for the most services. Preventive care is covered.


• Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) – Greater choice of doctors, but still affordable.


• Point-Of-Services (POS) – HMO-style care with greater freedom to choose doctors.


• Self-Directed Health Plans (SDHPs) – Budget plan with “up-front cash” for some preventive care.


• Health Savings Account (HSA) Plans – Low-cost plans with a tax-advantaged account to help you save for healthcare expenses.


• Fee-For-Service (“Indemnity”) Plans – Maximum freedom to choose doctors. Usually more expensive.


• Prescription (or Pharmacy) Plans – Help cover the cost of prescription drugs.


• Small Group Solutions – For employers to protect employees’ health.
